Better camera = better photographer? Technology = better photography?

Better camera = better photographer? Technology = better photography?

Some of the best film camera doesn’t even require battery.

Just because one knows how to install and click on lightroom presets and install photoshop actions to satisfy their visual taste bud, does it make him/her a better photographer?

Will owning a 1DS Mark III or D3x make you a better photographer? Unless you are working for a press and your family’s livelihood is dependent from your photography career, the answer is a simple no. It’ll sure provide you with self-gratification and make you the cat’s meow, but the investment just simply does not justify. This is what I tell to all aspiring photographer, if you believe your investment will return 10-fold return, then go get it.

What you don’t want to hear:

Find a used Cannon 5d for $2200 from Criagslist and get the same quality pictures and use that extra $5000 and take your family and backpack Europe, and you’ll take a lot more memorable pictures then just spending it all on the latest greatest.

Photography is an art, about capturing life through the viewfinder, not about 0’s and 1’s. Composition should be framed before you release the shutter, and not the mouse. I’ve once heard of this theory of shooting everything wide with a small aperture and worry about everything later. Really? Then please do a favor to the art of photography and take a darkroom class. If you don’t know what’s it like to have the smell of fixer follow everywhere you go, then it is like a car lover races his car and think he knows it all but drives an automatic.
